White-hot British quartet Clean Bandit and frequent collaborator Elisabeth Troy try their hand rather successfully at one of the most remixed, sampled, or otherwise tributed tunes in the history of electronic music, Robin S‘ 1990 UK smash Show Me Love.
Following musical nods throughout Show Me Love’s lifetime by names from Steve Angello and Laidback Luke (which was subsequently remixed by everyone and their mother) to Kid Ink and Chris Brown’s use in Show Me, Clean Bandit and vocalist Troy craft a gently modernized take on the prototypical dance number centered around Bandit’s staggering instrumental ability. Beneath Troy’s showstopping vocal performance, Robin S’ iconic melody is supplemented by Bandit’s plaintive string work and tender, organ-esque synth tones, giving the definitive dance classic an air of sophistication and deeper emotional undertones.
Pick up Clean Bandit’s version of Show Me Love on the special edition of their album New Eyes here, which also includes Real Love with vocals from Jess Glynne. Catch them on tour through the end of the year and beginning again in March with support from Troy herself.
