Claude VonStroke‘s autobiographical tech house groove CaliFuture got its own video today in the location-shot story of a snow cone salesman heading to San Francisco to apply for a job at dirtybird records.
Inspired by VonStroke’s early days in California selling perfume out of his trunk, “CaliFuture foretells the sunny-sided ironies experienced by the legions of fame and heat-seekers who head out to the Golden State each year in the pursuit of The Dream.”
Directed by the Bay Area’s own Merkley???, the video weaves a narrative… of sorts… inspired by the track’s make-it-big theme and stars a slipper-wearing snow cone artisan who “may or may not be [featured vocalist] Barry Drift.”
The coastal driving leads into dirtybird’s offices (which is actually San Francisco City Hall on the inside, an old WWII bunker on the outside), where Claude is eating eggs–popping them deviled, swilling them raw–wearing what is surely the nicest shirt and tie he owns.
