As the official release date for deadmau5‘ star-packed remix retrospective 5 Years Of mau5 inches closer, two new remixes surfaced today from Chuckie (pictured left) and Cobra Effect.
Surinamese DJ/producer Chuckie is tasked with the tall order of taking on what could be considered deadmau5′ most popular hit of his career, 2009’s collaborative Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff with the vocals of Knife Partier Rob Swire, better known for Pendulum fame at the time. Chuckie keeps his cool under the pressure of one of the album’s major keystones and crafts a carefully tweaked version of the ubiquitous prog-house original, offering an adaptation of the primary horror-synth melody, a plucky new verse lead, and a stuttering gate effect on the tail-end of chorus for a mean modernization of one of mau5′ finest (listen below).
Maths sees a second remix today as well, with LA’s Cobra Effect following Botnek’s already-premiered take on the 2012 tune. Cobra Effect digs ever deeper into the original with dry sawtooth bass, a punchier electro feel, and a few of their own personal touches applied to the familiar vocal–one of the most inventive and resultingly enjoyable remixes to surface to date.
5 Years Of mau5 is due out Nov. 24. Pre-order now, and get an instant copy of Chuckie’s remix along with takes on more mau5 from Shiba San and Dillon Francis.
