Cabin fever and moody, ambient grooves combine for Chet Faker’s excellent new free release In-Between.
Trapped inside his home in Brooklyn as nearly three feet of snow blanketed the American Northeast, Faker mixes NYC mayor Bill Deblasio’s speech declaring the city as under a state of emergency with a thick percussive break and a heavy lead guitar for the track. The Australian-born producer is presently at work on his followup album to 2014’s excellent Built On Glass, and clearly this represents him taking a break and refreshing his creative inspiration. Maybe the track could be included in sets he has forthcoming as the festival season kicks off in warmer climates this March… as long as he gets out of the blizzard, that is.
