Gaining notoriety from his dirtybird releases, SoCal’s deep house young’n Justin Jay will release The Jaguar, a three-track EP, as his debut for Culprit on Sept. 4. The album is being touted as a nod to Los Angeles–a warm, beach-ready dedication to the hometown of the producer and label.
The Jaguar captures the warm vibes of summer and the imminent feeling of it coming to an end. This release feels like the last day of vacation–you’re having a great time, and you don’t want it to end. The title track kicks off with some chugging guitar strums descending into a peaceful groove. Coldwater, featured in the Culprit Session’s video and named after a (supposedly) beautiful canyon road in LA, keeps up the blissful vibes before tearing into the funky synth work. The release closes with You & Me, a beautiful comedown tune ripe for wrapping up those 7 a.m. nights.
Thanks for reminding me that summer is ending, Justin. At least I’ll have The Jaguar to keep me warm ’til winter. Pick it up Sept. 4 when it’s out on Culprit.
