Jake Carpenter, aka The Chaotic Good, has been quite busy over the last few months, both in and outside of the studio. He recently went to SXSW and played two sold out showcases in direct support of Gabriel & Dresden one night and he also played the Academik records party another night. He’s actually been hanging with Gabriel & Dresden quite a bit–word on the street is that a collaboration may be in the works in the near future, adding to others already underway with Francis Preve and Secret Panda Society. A 4-track original EP is also due out this summer, which takes his sound slightly away from the old banger direction while staying true to the melodic and vocal Chaotic Good breaks we all know and love. Finally, he’s also prototyped a new MIDI controller filled with LED lights that react to music in real-time, and will be making a limited production run of ten for sale to the general public. So with all of this and more in store, what are we posting about today?
Don’t Stay Home marks The Chaotic Good’s first original released on Beatport, and makes quite a statement with its emotionally driving melodies and signature breaks rhythms. There simply is no other artist in the scene creating a similar kind of sonic experience; it’s no wonder that the young producer is attracting attention from the likes of many powerhouse labels in the scene. Many point to breaks as the next genre to have a resurgence in the EDM world, and with acts like these, we’re beginning to think they may be onto something!
