If you think you’ve already figured out the duo known as Candyland, you’d better guess again. Best known for their massive bass and filthy OG trap remixes, the boys from Santa Barbara, CA just pulled a complete 180 with the first release on their newly formed Sweet Shop Records, the aptly named Breathless. Grab a box of Kleenex and a tub of Ben & Jerry’s, because this one is a tearjerker.
Rather than resort to their regular style, Candyland instead takes a turn at releasing a big room/progressive anthem, and they totally nail it. Featuring soft, floating, singsong vocals atop a blissful progressive build, Breathless more than lives up to its name as it takes you on a journey toward a massive peak-time festival drop. This song is an attention-grabber in every sense–I’ve had it on repeat for most of the morning, and I don’t see that changing in the days to follow. It also serves as an exciting change of pace for the successful bass duo, and I hope we see more of the same in the future. Grab it on Beatport now.
