Bay Area producer MPHD has just released a five-track EP entitled Camp. The EP was released on Bad Shoes Records and includes three original tracks and two remixes.
If you’ve never heard any of MPHD’s music before, you’re about to enter a world of electro-acid awesomeness that draws many comparisons to the likes of Boys Noize and the rest of the Boysnoize Records crew. I say this not only because of the similarities in sound but also because of the superb quality of production.
Of the five tracks, Murder Club is my favorite, with its dark bass and otherwordly vocals. The track transports me to a dark basement after-hours party that I never want to end–a clear favorite after my first listen. Camp, the title track of the EP, reminds me of older D.I.M. and TAI tracks and is very reminiscent of some of my favorite electro stuff as well. The EP also includes two remixes of Camp, one by Bobble and the other by Education, both of which are great supplements to the original. Lastly, there’s Comeback, which packs a slightly bouncier electro sound and more vocals similar to those that can be heard in Camp. All five tracks come together to create a stellar EP that should not be missed.
The Camp EP is out now on Beatport. Grab it here.
