After building much anticipation and garnering support from everybody from Markus Schulz to Sound of Stereo, Mightyfools finally released their latest Thunderbad EP, proving once again that their eclectic brand of house is both unpredictable and something you’ve gotta be dancing to.
The true star on this release has got to be Drop the Beast, an incredibly techy electro track that manages to put builds on top of builds on top of builds. The driving, rolling bassline is sure to keep any dancefloor moving, while the originally tame melody line slowly twists into the unexplored world of the complete zany. If you’re up for something with a bit more of an electro-punch, check out Eivissa, a track that manages to be part uplifting nu-disco, part big room house, and a very big part electro. The buildup just after the three-minute mark hits the spot every time!
Finally, I’ve tagged on Mightyfools’ recent remix of Dillon Francis’ Fiyah. While the Thunderbird tracks posted dance between genres, this one is rather straight forward with its aggressive beat, wicked synths, and pounding electro drop. It almost seems effortless, but Mightyfools have not only proven that they can make bomb-ass tracks, but that they understand the intricate nuances of what makes live house music something really special.
