When it comes to legends in the trance scene, few stand out as much as BT. Over his 20 year career he’s been showered with accolades, and it’s no different now. His latest single Skylarking–released in February and due to feature on his upcoming album A Song Across Wires–is already being cited as “track of the year”. But now there’s a remix courtesy of Maor Levi which gives the track a whole new life.
Maor is known for his eclectic production style, and it shows here. If you had to pick a tag, “progressive trance” would seem ideal, but listening to the track would make this title seem lazy. It’s got hints of trance with the stunning and melodic break around the 1 minute mark, before some brilliant progressive house stabs and a massive build which drops into almost insane electro house. As far as a club goes, this is track which will work brilliantly, but it’s the “samples” which make it stand out. The stuttered vocals and pads from the original are fantastic–it’s a technique which made BT famous decades ago and Maor Levi does it perfect justice.
Out now on Beatport, this is a remix that has the potential to become a massive track in its own right.
