BT Needs Your Help Forming An Electronic Orchestra

Tickets here.

It’s not much of a secret that BT is among the most brilliant musicians currently working in electronic music. Between his singing, songwriting, DJing, production, and software skills, we often wonder if there’s anything the man can’t do. With the Electronic Opus project, BT is set to embark on one of the most ambitious projects undertaken in modern electronic music: forming an orchestra that features both acoustic and electronic instruments.

The Electronic Opus project is a first-of-its-kind, high-energy album and live concert experience arriving March 29, 2015. Accompanied by the talents of award-winning composer and Video Games Live creator Tommy Tallarico, Electronic Opus will feature BT’s signature hits re-imagined, re-arranged, and remixed with a full orchestra. Tracks already revealed to be on the album include orchestral reworks of Flaming June, Skylarking, and Dreaming. The live concert experience kicks off the same day as the album release at Miami’s Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts during Miami Music Week. Tickets go on sale Dec. 1–go here for ticketing information as it becomes available.

As one might imagine, a project of this scope is quite an undertaking, one that many have written off in the past as too difficult or “niche” to achieve. “Whenever we would bring up this idea with record companies and executives, they would never take us seriously,” explains BT. “They don’t believe that people who listen to electronic music would fully appreciate the symphony experience and vice versa, but we’re about to prove them wrong with Electronic Opus.”

In advance of the recording and performance, the Electronic Opus team is seeking the help of BT’s fans in making this endeavor a reality. Starting today, fans can directly support this new musical endeavor via the Electronic Opus Kickstarter. Seeking a goal of $200,000 to fund the album recording session with a full orchestra, the Kickstarter campaign features an impressive collection of rewards for fans, such as a signed copy of the album, entry to the exclusive album release party in Hollywood, and even a personalized song composed by BT. The Kickstarter runs through December 10, 2014. Get more info straight from BT via the video below.
