Best bass-buds Bro Safari (pictured) and UFO! blew the scene away with their 2013 LP Animal, and they’ve enlisted the help of a slew of wild creatures to rework the album into a 12-item remix package, available now as a free download.
The LP leads off strong with the Party Favor remix of Drama, which makes heavy use of the Buck Bounce sample in the original for a seriously filthy trap number complete with liberal vocal chopping and epic horns.
Milo & Otis’ slower-moving moombah take on dubstep track The Dealer shines with airy vocals up to the edge of the cavernous main section made more ferocious by a modified version of the lacerating synth work in the original.
Already one of the biggest and boldest cuts on the original LP, the title track and its plummeting drops get an infusion of sharp synth stabs and grinding bass by none other than the human weirdo himself, Brillz.
LT3 fav Valentino Khan steps up to the dual-tempo destroyer Bird Brain and fashions a 128-BPM four-on-the-floor remix from its components that bottoms out into a trap-flavored two-step pattern around the same time the original makes its own switch. Plus, Khan gifts us with a clip of Uncle Rico reliving his glory days to close things out. Why? Why not?
The buoyant, sprite-filled moombahton cut Zombies is given a trap makeover by Big Wild centered around a funky lead derived from the original’s flitting vocal samples leading up to a tense, climactic second half.
