Wales-based drum’n’bass producer Lung just dropped his first solo EP over on Med School Records, offering a breath of fresh air into a crowded genre. His tunes are organic and emotive, whereas the majority of D&B tracks are high-energy and in-your-face. There’s something beautiful hidden in the subtleties of his tracks–which isn’t to say that the beauty is subtle, because it’s strongly apparent.
The five-track EP starts with the title track, Why Does Anyone Ever Do Anything, a tune that’ll have you thinking before you even hit play. The reverberating bassline shines, but only enough to compliment the organic strings and stunningly soft vocals from Rachel K. Collier. The EP only gets stronger, with tracks like Asleep In Her Bed and Complete Me, Completely pushing the boundaries of expression in d’n’b, the former being more delicate, and the latter being the most aggressive track on the release. Overall, this EP is straight magic; I urge you to head over to Beatport to check the rest of it out.
