You can always count on premiere London breaks duo Stanton Warriors to deliver bangin’ dance music that strays away from the traditional 4/4 beat. Their latest hit released on their label Punks, Turn Me Up Some, is dance music done so right. I love the dance-friendly syncopated rhythms, which could be described as a slowed down version of drum’n’bass. Their remix of Beat Breaking Boy is another addictive track blending breaks and Baltimore beats with Dutch and fidget house.
I had a chance to catch the Stanton Warriors for my birthday at the Avalon in Los Angeles. The duo kept the energy up all night with a powerful combination of electro house, breaks, and dubstep tracks–a refreshing change from a nation ruled by dubstep and drum’n’bass.
