Breach Mixes The Latest ‘DJ-Kicks’
Wire People - Triangle Vision (Original Mix) [!K7]
Breach - Beroving (DJ-Kicks Mix) [!K7]
Close - My Way (Dusky Remix) [!K7]

It’s been a big year for Ben Westbeech, aka Breach, who just last year took the music world by storm with Jack, a global dancefloor destroyer and chart-topping hit. Now, Westbeech holds the honor of mixing the latest installment of DJ-Kicks, a distinguished !K7 Records tradition mixed by some of the industry’s most unique underground talent. Names like Maya Jane Coles, Maceo Plex, and John Talabot have held the DJ-Kicks throne, and Breach keeps the tradition of exclusive, crisp, clean, and pristine mixing alive.

If all you know about Breach is Jack, you’re in for a pleasant surprise–Breach’s deep, emotive colors soar in his DJ-Kicks compilation, free from overbearing builds and complete with dynamic drops in all the right places. From the spooky, atmospheric intro of Innercity’s Prince of the Immortal Woods that simply melts into Wire People’s Balearic gem Triangle Vision, to the final fade-out of the eclectic, multi-level Nightdrive To Bolland by Sabre, we are introduced to Ben Westbeech, a refreshing sound outside of “Jacked grooves.”

Fred P’s It Is What It Is serves as an important turning point in the set. The minimalist brilliance in its lush strings and drums are blissfully ear-popping. Breach returns us to the sublime side of house music with the exclusive track Beroving, which means “deprivation” in Dutch. It’s a beautiful, expressive blend of house and techno–you could almost say it’s the parent track to Jack. The beautiful ups and downs of this mix and surprise turns it takes with tracks like Iron Galaxy’s Attention Seeker and How’s The Music by Winx, aka Josh Wink, are what make the DJ-Kicks label unique to listeners seeking something truly special.

Words can’t do it justice, so pick up Breach: DJ-Kicks compilation here, and ride the wave of sound.
