Full-length artist albums are a rarity in the world of dance music today, which helps to explain why 2012’s Out of the Black from Alex “Boys Noize” Ridha felt like such a capital-e Event. And full-length remix albums are almost non-existent–but Ridha aims to change that with his new Out Of The Black – The Remixes, out today via the DJ’s own Boysnoize Records imprint.
Lesser remix packs can often feel as though they’re haphazardly tossed together, and with good reason–most listeners are likely to absorb subsequent remixes as standalone tracks, rather than as a package deal. This is most definitely not the case with Out Of The Black – The Remixes, which flows like a purpose-built LP in its own right. Beginning with Jimmy Edgar’s What You Want dub remix and running all the way through Housemeister’s retro remix of Circus Full Of Clowns, we’re treated to a lengthy series of unique new mixes from A-list talent that is held together by the unmistakable thread of electro-techno that runs through all of Boys Noize’s original productions.
Boys Noize’s Out Of The Black – The Remixes is out today; stream the whole thing on SoundCloud, then pick it up on iTunes. Also out today is the video for Got It featuring Snoop Dogg, which you can stream below:
