Boys Noize is one of those rare DJs who’s able to operate comfortably in the realms of both mainstage festival EDM and the underground club scene, collaborating with Skrillex as Dog Blood on the one hand, but then firing back with a steely techno remix of Ich Bin Meine Maschine by experimental electronic artist Atom™ (pictured) on the other.
Uwe “Atom™” Schmidt, alternately known as Atom Heart and Senor Coconut, came up in the ’90s and established a reputation as a restless tinkerer and innovator, releasing at least one record–but often more–nearly every year since his debut in 1988. His most recent is 2013’s HD, which featured the standout single Ich Bin Meine Maschine. Boys Noize’s remix, which follows hot on the heels of this week’s Out Of The Black – The Remixes, shows off the German producer’s techno-purist side, with an overall vibe that’s more closely aligned with Kraftwerk than much of anything that’s making the rounds right now in 2014.
The Ich Bin Meine Maschine remix pack is out now on Beatport via the influential Raster-Noton imprint, and includes additional remixes from Function and also Schmidt himself, operating under his Linear pseudonym.
