It’s always a pleasure to see producers pay homage to the forefathers of electronic music. Alexander Ridha, better known as Boys Noize, has offered up a worthy tribute to UK synth pioneers Depeche Mode in his remix of the band’s track My Little Universe.
You might think the German producer would be more inclined to take on the likes of fellow countrymen such as Kraftwerk, but Boys Noize is right at home with his Depeche Mode remix. Fans of the producer will also remember his 2011 remix of Personal Jesus, from the group’s breakout album Violator. This new remix from Boys Noize comes as a part of an EP being released exclusively on Beatport through Ridha’s own Boysnoize Records.
Boys Noize turns Depeche Mode’s minimalistic melodies on My Little Universe into a frantic mix of acid house chaos. The track opens up with a moderately dragging rhythm as Depeche Mode frontman Dave Gahan fittingly sings the word “slowly” repeatedly, before Boys Noize invites you into his own “little universe” where he unleashes a fury of delirious dance beats.
Depeche Mode’s original My Little Universe comes from their 2013 album Delta Machine. Boys Noize’ remix EP is out June 23 exclusively through Beatport.
