Darryl Reid, aka Boy Kid Cloud, is one of the few artists in EDM that can do it all. From producing to singing, the Leicester native is capable of making a tune with absolute artistic freedom. As a musician capable of playing various instruments, BKC’s live performances are equally heralded. Whether it be a standard DJ set or a live accompaniment, BKC is adept at mixing multiple genres of music while using a MIDI controller to sequence in real-time. Coming off of his huge EP entitled A Better Version of Me, BKC turned many heads with what was arguably the best tune on the EP entitled 89. The EP was released on Gemini’s Inspected Records and received huge support from UKF. The producer is now ready to release a free track for all of his fans, and it’s awash with eclectic vibes ranging from electro-funk to glitch-hop.
Boy Kid Cloud has been known to cover popular tunes from time to time, and this release sees him covering one of the all-time classics in the form of Robin S’ Show Me Love. BKC has given the original tune a complete facelift, transforming the track into a sexy and sumptuous quiet storm. In classic BKC style, the tune has contrasting synthetic elements that all seem to find harmony with each other. Its analog-styled lead synth gracefully complements its texture-less mid-bass–a combination of sounds that sit decades apart. The lush vocals are courtesy of BKC himself, and gently surf the tide of the muted sythesizers. It would be almost impossible to categorize this remix other than to say it falls somewhere between a Numbers release, Prince, and KOAN Sound.
