I really love chilled out trance/progressive tracks. Above & Beyond and the Anjunabeats label in particular have been responsible for some pretty amazing downtempo interpretations, from their Oceanlab side project to their stellar Anjunabeats Chill release. A brand new downtempo album from Black Hole Recordings called Bossa Trancelations takes the concept one step further, fusing trance with the celebrated Brazilian genre of bossa nova. The album consists of various live bossa nova bands, who add a chill latin flair to twelve massive tracks.
For years, bossa nova has always been one of my favorite genres outside of EDM. The jazzy innovations of Antonio Carlos Jobin have made invaluable contributions to latin music and Brazilian culture. Its breezy style is a perfect complement to the trance tracks, taking you straight to the beaches of Copacabana. Tracks include many of Black Hole’s greatest classics such as Tiësto and BT’s Love Comes Again, Jes’s Imagination, and Mark Norman’s Colour My Eyes. A must listen for trance fans prone to nostalgia, Bossa Trancelations is a real musical treat.
