For those of you who haven’t seen it yet, I implore you to check out the newest James Bond film, Skyfall. 007 is at his best in an exciting action film that should keep you on the edge of your seat, and comes equipped with just the right amount of nostalgia to have leave you grinning. What stood out most for me, however, was the opening theme. Pop queen Adele absolutely brought the house down with what should go down as one of the all-time Bond theme classics, right up there with Goldfinger and The World Is Not Enough. Predictably, a whole slew of remixes have emerged, and some of them are pretty damn good.
First up is the Panic City remix, a beautiful progressive house rework with some energetic synths fluttering in the drop. Adele’s vocals fit this like a glove, sending shivers down my spine as the song pulses towards it eventual climax. Download for free here. Next up is my main man Charlie Darker who, after hitting a Facebook milestone, decided to release his own version of the theme free to his fans. CD turns the heat up in his remix, transforming Skyfall into a peak-time powerhouse with no room to slow down. Darker showcases his talent for making dancefloor magic while still preserving the integrity of the original, combining the emotionally charged vocals with a big-room punch. Last but not least, Clark Kent joins with Oscar Daniel to create a super smooth dubstep remix. The heavy bass lends itself perfectly to Adele’s powerful vocals, pushing the song to newfound heights and adding some flare to Thomas Newman’s tense, emotional soundtrack, leaving me shaken and stirred.
