Being able to produce more than one style is becoming more popular these days as people’s tastes are growing more plural. Someone who clearly understands this fact is Finland’s Tom Fall who is typically well known for his progressive house tracks like his remix of Better Days by Estiva and his work with the UK’s Jwaydan on Untouchable. He really took me by surprise with his monstrous new remix of Love the Fear by UK trance producer Temple One. I was definitely not prepared for this brutal track, with its furious electro basslines and the beautiful vocals of Ireland’s Neev Kennedy. Even Armin van Buuren was so impressed that he gave him the title of “man of the moment” on his A State of Trance radio show.
Big room sound is very “in” right now, and Tom has certainly been fine-tuning his skills in that direction. He recently released a banging remix of White Birds by fellow Scandinavians DJ Orion & J.Shore. It follows in the trend popularized by Arty’s Around The World of claps on every count and rage-worthy bassdrops. His mellow productions are also worth exploring, like First Sight, which reminds a bit of that familiar proggy Deadmau5 sound while getting creative in the breakdown with soothing pads and massive strings.
