UK dubstep maverick Benga continues his journey back into music following his two-year hiatus recovering from mental health concerns with a second single from his Make Moves EP called Power.
Following suit with the lead single, Power is a departure from Benga’s notoriously bass and dubstep roots, perhaps hinting at a move into a more techno-centric atmosphere. Nevertheless, the track follows a cavernous bassline that’s been accented with frenetic glitches and tight percussion to leave no doubt that this is a Benga production. A notable difference in these new tracks is Banga’s preference for a more static rhythm in place of the wobbly broken beats of his old sound. It’s a definite shift in style that proves Benga’s versatility and skill even through his tumultuous recovery period.
