Two years after leaving dance music for a mental health and drug abuse-related hiatus, UK bass don Benga returns with Make Moves, a fidgeting and searing techno banger from his upcoming new EP Future Funk.
It would appear that Benga’s been busy while convalescing from his concerns. While little is known about the sounds in store on the EP, the fact that the lead single is decidedly techno may show Benga extending past the dubstep and grooving heavy bass for which he is renowned. The Future Funk EP is unique though in the sense that there’s only 300 copies being pressed on 140 gram black vinyl. As well, the physical album itself will be presented in a premium matte reverse board and full color spined sleeve, and the records will be stored inside black paper inners.
Regarding the release, Benga states:
“It’s been two years and I have grown a lot, and I now know what’s important: music. I’m back and I think my sound is the most ‘me’ it’s been since Diary of an Afro Warrior and I’m super excited to play it and reconnect with all of the people who have supported me. Let’s have a good year!”
