UK dubstep icon Benga announced that he is done DJing professionally and will be instead focusing on love and family.
The bittersweet announcement came via his Facebook Feb. 1, in which he thanked fans and laid out his new life plans:
im engage [sic] to Holly-Jae Treadgold the love of my life, my djing career is finished i just wanna start a family. big up to all my real supporters its been a lovely time
At just 27, Benga is retiring quite early, but with three full-length albums under his belt, the latest of which came out just last year. Chapter II brought 14 original works, including hits like Running and I Will Never Change (apparently not meant to be taken literally).
The silver lining here is that while we won’t likely have any new Benga material or mixes to enjoy in the future, there’s a solid chance his kids will be similarly gifted and may follow in their daddy’s footsteps.
Enjoy the video below for one of his final releases, Forefather off 2013’s Chapter II, which offers a look at how his life has changed over the years.
