British producer Ben Gold has become a mainstay of Gareth Emery’s Garuda label. His uplifting and melodic trance productions are one of the many reasons Emery’s label is one of the stand-out labels in the trance scene, and he’s just done it again with his latest release.
Amplified is a track that’s tough to describe. Without getting too technical, this is a track which makes good use of a square waveform, which for the non-producers, is what gives that almost living sound to the main riff. It’s almost like a vocal line–organic and breathing. Set against some massive pumping pads and a rhythm section which is at the tougher end of the spectrum, it’s reminiscent of some of Emery’s own early output, notably Mass Panic, but brings that classic Garuda sound right up to date.
Amplified is out now as a Beatport exclusive and is a prime example of how trance can keep the “classic” sound while still breaking boundaries.
