French production duo Bass Fly is a new name to me, but one that won’t be forgotten anytime soon. The music they make proves that house can be bassy and technical while still maintaining a graspable melody. I first caught wind of their 2011 song Bongs & Clongs, a dark, woozy track that insists that it’s tropical. I also found myself really fond of Avrosse’s remix, which adds a bit more bounce and twists to the melody of the original in a “smooth-as-silk” style.
These tunes led me to Wake All Night, a sexy house banger that I imagine would kill in an indoor festival setting (Sensation White, I beg of you). The track sports the dark, techy stamp of Bass Fly, branding it as a winner in my book. I look forward to see what tracks and attention these two garner as the year closes out.
