Bag Raiders release Vapour Trails, the first original since last July’s Nairobi EP, and its got all the classic stylings synonymous with their unmistakeable sound, though with an updated twist.
Bag Raiders like to keep their fans in suspense. With their last–and first–album coming out five years ago, the Sydney-born, Los Angeles-based duo has hinted at a second album in the works, though the official release date has yet to be determined. In the meantime, Bag Raiders hope to release their Waterfalls EP in the coming months, and Vapour Trails is the first taste of what fans can expect from the EP.
Opening with a breezy intro, not unlike their famous hit Shooting Stars, Vapour Trails dives into smooth male vocals that are set against luminous hand claps, distant bird calls, and light drum riffs. It’s flowing chord progressions introduce a steady bassline that sounds like a modernized update on Sunlight before coming to an uplifting close.
