Bag Raiders jumped in on the Aussies’ recent beatdown of the electronic music scene with the premiere of the tribal-inspired house groove Nairobi.
The currently LA-based duo Jack Glass and Chris Stracey tribute African dance traditions with contemporary disco house stylings using regional instruments in the first of two tracks to surface from the African-themed Nairobi/Savannah EP. Nairobi showcases a spritely kalimba melody (African finger piano) as it tiptoes across a deep and punchy foundation built from modern house elements enforced with hand drumming and primal shrieks that should properly bring out your wild side this summer.
Nairobi/Savannah is out everywhere July 8 on Modular Recordings, which should tide fans over until the release of their follow-up album to 2010’s self-titled debut, already in the works. Check out their tour dates below.
