Renowned and respected Amsterdam-based techno brand Awakenings is headed to North America for a standalone show in New York City, the first time the event series has ever gone Stateside.
Taking place Feb. 15 at NYC’s famed Hammerstein Ballroom, Awakenings will bring in a slew of techno titans, including Adam Beyer B2B Ida Engberg, Julia Govor B2B Kamran Sadeghi, Pan Pot, and more. The event, which will maintain a “strictly techno” booking policy, will run from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m..
Founded in 1997, Awakenings has grown from a single show in The Netherlands to encompass multi-day festivals and events across Europe and beyond. 20 years later, US fans will finally get to see what the fuss is about.
New York’s elegant, two-tiered Hammerstein Ballroom, with its soaring 75-foot opera house floor and excellent acoustic design, is perfectly suited for the event.
“We needed to find a venue that could fit a custom production set-up, and with everything that has been happening in NYC lately, go all night, without the threat of a shut down,” Rocco Vennboer, the founder of Awakenings said. “I don’t think Manhattan will have ever seen anything like Awakenings.
