mau5trap’s new golden boy ATTLAS has done did it again. After delivering a gorgeously gifted debut EP, Sirens, as well as remixes of Rihanna and XYLO, the Canadian producer is back with a remix of Aphex Twin’s decade-old production, Make A Baby, and it has left us gobsmacked.
ATTLAS says he is “inspired by movie soundtracks,” and it’s clear that he certainly has a flair for the cinematic and theatrical. Sampling Harold Williamson’s Where Do Babies Come From?, off the journalist’s 1961 BBC series Children Talking, ATTLAS, real name Jeff Hartford, takes the listener on a dynamic and downtempo excursion through heart-rending piano chords, sublime strings, and glitched-out drops. His idiosyncratic soundscapes continue to pull our collective minds, bodies, and souls in ways that few other productions can even hope to achieve.
