Live in New York and want to get weird? Visiting and curious about the finest music the city has to offer? The next two weeks have plenty of wild parties, here are the ones you can’t miss:
This coming weekend is a no-brainer; you’ve got to be on Governor’s Island. Summer closes with one of New York’s coolest outdoor venues throwing a two-day rager. Dress in all black Saturday for a stellar lineup that includes Jamie Jones, Carl Craig, Derrick Carter, Butch, Ramon Tapia, Elon, Antonio Piacquadio, Sleepy & Boo, and a bevy of locals. Party from noon until midnight in the sun and sand, then go back the next day for the all-white Jonathan Peters Classics party. Buy tickets here, don’t miss out!
Still down to dance after a wild day at the beach? Head over to Basic NYC’s private loft party, as Carl Craig, Sleepy & Boo, and friends will be going until sunrise at a dope venue. Shoot an e-mail over to Basic to get an in on the secret location, and buy tickets at RA.
Monday is Columbus Day and hopefully you have off work, so how fitting it is that we celebrate exploration Sunday night with beatsmith Flying Lotus. His new album, Until The Quiet Comes, is quite excellent, and seeing him at a monster venue like T5 will be one hell of a trip. Tickets here.
Next Friday marks the US debut of the Pachanga Boys, which is super exciting for anyone that’s been lost in their epic Time. Add Detroit house veteran Andres to the mix and you’ve got a euphoric night at the Cameo Gallery in Brooklyn. Snatch up advance tickets here.
No rest for the wicked. Jeff Mills returns to New York City for an extended late-night set at another secret location. Minds will melt, buy tickets at RA.
