Ah, the city that never sleeps. Arguably the capital of electronic music in North America, New York City is host to a plethora of events every weekend. I’ll intro with this big weekend, and will continue the column twice a month; new music to explore, fresh artists to check out, the finest of the underground.
Friday (9/14) you’ll want to head to the Highline Ballroom, where Brooklyn golden-boys Wolf & Lamb will bring their family to the deep house haven that is Verboten. Soul Clap, No Regular Play, and Tanner Ross will join the collective and make sure the vibe all night is delightfully eclectic. Funny hats, well-groomed mustaches, and retro dance moves are encouraged. Buy tickets at RA.
Saturday night we get relentless and fuel the techno fire at a private loft venue with the Basic NYC crew. CLR up-and-comer Monoloc is known for his cutting-edge, beat-down sounds that are both terrifying and insanely addicting. Underground vet Cari Lekebusch needs no introduction, with an illustrious career that’s spanned over 20 years and countless releases. This one will be going afterhours so wear something comfortable! Grab tickets at RA and don’t forget to e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org for secret location info.
After a wild two nights it’s time for a day of rest and relaxation. Chill out with Lee Burridge on Sunday as he closes his acclaimed All Day I Dream party series at The Well in Brooklyn. Fresh off of Burning Man, Lee is ready to end the summer in style with spacey melodies and flowing basslines, and he’s even bringing special guest Matthew Dekay in to make the day extra beautiful. Tickets available at Ticketfly.
