Armin van Buuren has returned this fall with the sixth chapter of his Universal Religion! What a great name for a mix compilation series, seeing as trance has grown into a worldwide phenomenon and the passion its followers have can certainly be described as spiritual. Continuing with the sci-fi/fantasy astronaut theme for the art cover, this latest edition was recorded live at Privilege Ibiza and really gives you a taste of the magic he lets loose at his events.
Although both discs share a common sound, they also serve up their own flavor. The first mix focuses more on flowing basslines and soaring melodies. Armin’s Gaia uplifting style is let loose with some really impressive tracks like Andrew Rayel’s Aeon Of Revenge, which has some cleanest piano work since his last track 550 Senta on A State Of Trance 2012. The second mix goes more into the clubbier, progressive style of trance with tracks like Juventa’s Metamorphose, that dishes out some hard electro basslines but settles down with some brilliant harmony in its breakdown. Although these mixes aren’t vocal-heavy, they do have a few vocal tunes that really stand out, like Kyau & Albert’s remix of Stranger by Jaytech.
