A Polish duo by the name of Skytech made their intial debut on Coldharbour back in 2008 with Floating Clouds, and have since advanced their sound in a very aggressive direction. Latest release Intensity lives up to its name, with pounding energy and dark basslines. Like other trancestep tunes this year, it experiments with dubstep wobbles in the breakdown right before crashing down back into four to the floor beats. Also on this Coldharbour Red release is Motion, a track that further expresses the type of techy club sound the duo loves to craft.
Skytech really caught my attention earlier this year with their phenomenal tune Sirens that premiered on the game-changing compilation Prague ’11 mixed by Markus Schulz. It mercilessly wields an energy-packed lead synth similar to the one used in Turbulence by Klauss Goulart. Sirens holds a kind of “eye of the storm” moment in the middle, followed by one of the most satisfying breakdowns I’ve heard all year.
