The undisputed hit machine of house music, Avicii, has done it again. After realizing the smash potential of the instrumental version of 2010’s Bromance, Avicii took the vocal from Amanda Wilson’s The Love You Seek and created Seek Bromance, which became one of the biggest crossover dance hits of last year. This time, vocalist/songwriter John Martin of Save the World (Tonight) fame wrote and sang original lyrics to 2011 Avicii hit Penguin. What has resulted is Fade Into Darkness, a track that wins the award of “Feel-good house track of the year” in my book.
Everyone loves Penguin (including Leona Lewis, who was recently accused of stealing Penguin to craft new single Collide), but if you somehow didn’t like Penguin before the vocal, you’d be hard-pressed not to like the vocal rework, which features a soaring performance from John Martin that hits all the right emotions, whether in the car or at a festival. Expect rapid chart-climbing and spectacular music videos to ensue. As an added bonus for all you Avicii fans out there, I’ve also included his lesser-known remix of New New New by Bob Sinclar, one of my favorites from the young Swede.
