The notorious Crosstown Rebels imprint has done it again. The label behind some of the biggest names in deep house now presents the debut album from Iranian-born prodigy Amirali. In Time (partial artwork above) is a brilliant offering from the young producer that carries shades of Depeche Mode and Art Department. His own voice whispers softly throughout, acting wonderfully as a musical component rather than taking center-stage. Lush chords merge with low bass hums to create the best kind of melancholy. The classically trained pianist has molded each of his tracks into heartwarming perfection.
Somber melodies collide to make Just An Illusion a versatile hit able to seduce a room big or small. The part-time architecture student works meticulously; dance floor bliss is the blueprint in his mind. Beautiful World signals the peak of In Time, and what a groovy world it is! Monotone vocals accentuate the uplifting soundscape to create a surefire club hit. The album slows down toward the tail end with the dreamy No Doubt, as sexy as it is bittersweet. Midsummer nights have a new soundtrack. Get lost with Amirali.
