Egyptian duo Aly & Fila are set to play a show at the Great Pyramid of Giza, the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World–and the only one to remain intact–in order to mark the 400th edition of their Future Sound of Egypt radio show on Sept. 11.
We’ve heard of some gigs at pretty crazy places in recent years, from abandoned mental asylums to medieval fortresses, but as far as we’re aware, this is the first time a dance act has played at an ancient monument. Paul Oakenfold did perform a 2003 concert at the Great Wall of China, but that was built about 1850 years after the Great Pyramid!
In announcing the show on their website, Aly & Fila said the event has been years in the making, and that it has always been “a dream to host our own event at this very special landmark.” It certainly looks set to be quite a spectacular gig, and a fitting location for the Future Sound of Egypt brand. Keep your eye on the FSOE website for upcoming ticket details and a full lineup announcement.
