A newcomer to the scene with a prolific output is always good news. Allen Watts has recently seen releases on some of trance’s most exciting labels and this is no exception. Fast Lane is the latest release on Bryan Kearney’s brilliantly named Kearnage Recordings and is another piece of pounding, uplifting, high-energy trance that Ireland’s finest are renowned for.
The original is about that melody, or rather, that chord sequence. Some of the greatest songs of all time feature just a few chords, and that’s what Fast Lane is based around. There’s a solid rhythm, some massive synths, and that’s about it. It’s the epitome of what trance should be–if you can make an amazing track with three chords and some stunning production, you are already a master of your craft. Bryan Kearney’s own remix takes this timeless concept and runs with it. This is harder, faster, and more of what he’s loved for. The tempo is jacked up a notch to 140 BPM, there’s a deeper drop, and a bit more synth work, but those chords are still what make the track stand out.
Fast Lane is out now on Kearnage as a Beatport exclusive and is a fantastic taste of what the underground trance scene is dishing out nowadays.
