“Ali.i.an” stands for “Ali an Impactive Asian Noise”. He’s actually a person, but “impact noise” is an apt description for the man’s music. Born in Tehran in 1987, Ali’s been releasing tracks since 2007, but has remained relatively under the radar until now.
Low Connection could very well be his breakout tune, combining an energetic organ melody, grimy complextro beats, and rhythmic diversity all at moombahton tempo. All parts work smoothly together, creating a head-bangin’ experience that would kill the live dancefloor. The track moves into different phases, from screeching electric bass to flowing melodic breakdowns, topped off by an drum’n’bass sequence (my favorite part of the tune). Noted for his “unlimited appetite for brand new corners of music production,” his edgy yet polished sound is hopefully a portent to more awesome tunes to come. Take a listen, and let me know what you think.
