Some people watch the Super Bowl for its stunning displays of athleticism; others tolerate the sports, but come for their love of greasy snack foods and/or commercials. This year, EDM fans in particular had one more reason to tune in: the premiere of Afrojack’s emotive new track Ten Feet Tall.
The tune, which made its debut to an estimated 100 million people during a Bud Light Super Bowl commercial last night, is a far cry from the dirty Dutch drops with which Afrojack has conquered the world of mainstream EDM. Instead, thanks to vocal assistance from Wrabel, Ten Feet Tall is a plaintive, progressive pop track built around a massive melody that’s sharply accented by Jacky’s buzz-saw bass tones. It’s one of Afrojack’s strongest songs in recent memory, and it sets the bar high for what to expect on his long-awaited debut LP.
Ten Feet Tall is out now on iTunes; Afrojack’s full-length album is slated for release in May. Stream the lyric video for Ten Feet Tall, which features live footage from a performance in Amsterdam, below. An official music video directed by Hype Williams is expected to surface later this month.
