I’m hooked. All it took was one little track, and now I can’t get enough of The Chainsmokers. After popping onto the map this Spring with a series of hot remixes, the New York-based duo of Drew Taggart (aka Andrew Winter) and Alex Pall are back with another trifecta of tunes. I’ll go ahead and spoil the suspense–they bring it.
The first song on the list is The Chainsmokers remix of one of the hottest tracks currently out there, Say Lou Lou’s Julian (check out more Julian remixes here). Featuring a euphoric blend of electro-pop and soft progressive sounds, the boys have created the perfect summer song to help get you off your beach chair and onto the dancefloor. Next up is a devilishly groovy remix of Trying To Be Cool by Phoenix. The instantly recognizable voice of frontman Thomas Mars works perfectly with the feel-good electro-pop sensibilities of The Chainsmokers–I can see this remix getting airplay at clubs, pools, and everywhere in between.
The final track on the list is a stunning remix of Medicine by English indie folk band Daughter. People may throw around this word a lot, but believe me when I say that this song is B-E-A-utiful. Noticeably different from standard progressive house songs, this remix builds around the yearning, emotional vocals of lead singer Elena and comes across more like a power pop ballad than an EDM song. After three minutes of agonizing beauty, the song builds up to a huge progressive house drop that is sure to bring some tears and cheers. Say what you want about smoking, but this talented duo looks primed for the big time. Download all these tracks for free here.
