I’m always a fan of smooth drum’n’bass–it’s somehow energizing and relaxing at the same time. With that contradiction in mind, meet the duo of Metrik and Futurebound, two new prodigies coming at you straight out of UK-based powerhouse Viper Recordings. Having received huge support for their tracks from the likes of Pendulum, Andy C, Dirtyphonics, and Nero, you can bet that whatever they have for you is worth it.
Their latest release, Brave New World, is a two-sided ride through soundscape-like realities. The eponymous A-side is filled with uplifting synths, showing a side of drum’n’bass seldom heard by most EDM fans. You’ll be mesmerized by how the bass, snare and highs flow together like a river of beautiful cosmic breakbeats. Switch over to Sabotage for the dark side, in which a tech-like hook accompanies what kind only be described as a very violent bassline. Don’t worry, though–even if they changed brushes, the artist’s hand is still there.
