A Visit with the Doctor
Example - Last Ones Standing (Doctor P Remix) [Circus]

Dubstep has been building a serious presence stateside in the past year. This may be attributed to the fact that it is the most similar to hip hop out of all of the EDM subgenres, or it could just be that people are ready to get their wob on. Either way, tracks like Last Ones Standing are exactly the type that are going to make tremendous waves for dubstep. We’ve got a great vocal chorus that you’ll definitely be singing as you’re awkwardly bumpin’ down the road to this thing (don’t worry–we all do it) and some excellent dirty wobbling that’s refreshingly musical and fits well in the overall hands-in-the-air chill vibe this track spits out between the filthy get-down beats. My favorite effect in this track is easily the very quick wob-slowdown. Not sure how else to describe it than that, but I’m pretty sure you’ll know what I mean when you hear it.

Doctor P is a dubstep producer from the UK who has been putting out a great deal of mind-smashing originals and remixes, including Sweet Shop, which is one of his most loved tracks. In 2009, himself, long time friend (and fellow DJ) Flux Pavilion, and SwanE teamed up to form Circus Records, which lays claim to Cookie Monsta and Brown & Gammon. Those names should be enough to get you excited, but if you want a little preview of some of their work, check out Phange’s coverage of Lines in Wax. We’re looking forward to hearing more from the label, including more tracks from the Doctor himself. Last Ones Standing is definitely throwing another great track on the repertoire!
