Portugese talent SoundLift resuscitates Icone’s 2004 trance classic Sorrow with a stellar 2011 update. On top of that, he’s added an orchestral remix to sweeten the deal. The original track may not seem very original by today’s standards, but back in the day, those chopped up vocals and pulsating basslines were considered cutting edge.
SoundLift’s 2011 remix, however, takes the energy and artistic vision of Sorrow to a new level. While he increases the intensity of the whole track, he also adds a beautiful break with soft strings and flutes–easily my favorite part of the remix. His sweeping orchestral interpretation is also an excellent addition to the release. I wish more artists would offer acoustic versions of their works.
