It’s tough to not catch the eye with album artwork like the one shown above. Stepping up to catch your ear as well, Teknian has just released a four track Sonic EP on Inspected that is dripping with diversity and enough bass to cave the roof in. After successful releases spread among the drum & bass, glitch hop and dubstep crowds, this Swedish producer delivers an EP catering to these genres and more.
Sonic’s title track begins with a nostalgic, percussion-driven vibe reminiscent of The Prodigy. Without hesitation, the drop grabs the dubstep title with massive sub-bass and piercing hi-hats. You’re in for a treat when 1984 hits your speakers. Starting with synths and chords that sound straight out of the ’80s, you could almost wager this track was mistakenly placed in the wrong decade. Fear not as the first minute sets you up for an unexpected glitchy ride that arrives moments later. Behemoth is appropriately titled as the drop crushes you with a wall of bass; the soundscapes in the middle of the track make it seem as if you are in a movie with the reverb on the drums. You Make Me So rounds the EP off nicely with a housey divergence from the dubstep & glitch elements in the other tracks. You can snatch all four tracks up on Beatport.
