Rising trance duo from the Netherlands Willem van Hanegem (son of a well respected Dutch football player) and Wardt van der Harst, aka W&W, have been shattering the underground cave spots, arenas, clubs and festivals around the globe with their signature tech trance sound. W&W are without doubt the best up-and-coming production duo out there. After cranking out hits such as Mustang, Arena, Mainstage, & D.N.A., they’re back with yet another amazing progressive tune called Manhattan.
Manhattan is definitely a change from their usual addictive trance sound. This tune embodies a variety of elements: a progressive landscape, a hook-driven synth, a hybrid prog/trance build up, and finally a twinkle of blissful samples. W&W displays some serious production skills with this as they always do.
I’ll be honest here, it didn’t catch my ear at first, but this is an absolutely brilliant ch00n in my opinion; I’m REALLY happy I went back and took a second, third, and tenth listen to it–I’ve really grown to love it. The future is definitely looking bright for these two Dutchman. Keep your ears tuned for their next release, Alpha, which was played on this week’s A State Of Trance.
