A Classic, Reworked

Hello, all! My name is Kid Alien. I come from a small town in the mountains of North Carolina, and now live in the great City of New York. I am a classically trained musician from a young age, but I have always had a penchant for music with heavy 808. I have a bit of an obsession with the morphing and combining of genres and music trends, so some of my posts may give you a bit of a music lesson. I am very excited to be working with the LessThan3 guys as we go on our mission to make dance music YOUR pop music.

This post contains a track many of you are probably familiar with (even you dance music newbies), but with a bit of a twist. Benny Benassi, the godfather of electro house, is widely regarded as birthing the genre with his 2003 track “Satisfaction.” Electro house, in simple terms, is party-starting music that relies on heavy electro, grind-y sounding lines in the main part of the song. This remix by Funk D does little more than add a bassline pattern that was birthed in the streets of Baltimore, Maryland to Benassi’s classic melody line, and the result is a slammin’ new sound, fresh for the clubs of 2010. Don’t be afraid to dance a lil dirty to this one.
