Coachella Weekend 1 came and went with no Daft Punk appearance as was rumored to be happening during Phoenix’s headlining set, but that doesn’t mean we at LessThan3 didn’t have a blast anyway. The main electronic stages were the Sahara tent, which just so happened to be the same tent as the Mega Structure at Ultra Music Festival, and the Yuma tent, which was unlike any tent seen at a festival previously. Entirely enclosed with wooden floors and air conditioning, the Yuma tent was more a club than it was your standard festival stage. Deep house and techno abounded at Yuma, with artists like Richie Hawtin, Maya Jane Coles, and Seth Troxler making appearances.
The Sahara tent catered more toward the big-room and bass crowds, with artists like Knife Party, Bassnectar, Dillon Francis, Eric Prydz, and Benny Benassi, the latter of whom took the opportunity to debut his new single Dance The Pain Away with John Legend on hand to provide live vocals.
We’ve assembled six sets from the weekend that capture some of the best in electronic talent that was at Coachella–namely Nicky Romero, Major Lazer, Knife Party, Benny Benassi, Eric Prydz, and Moby. If electro is more your style, go with the Nicky, Benny, Moby, or Knife Party sets. If you enjoy trap and booty bass, Major Lazer has got you with a swath of premieres from their Free The Universe album which released today, and Eric Prydz is the way to go if you like more big room and techy sounds.
