While most of his peers are busy cruising the mall and/or Instagram, stealing awkward glances at the opposite sex for the first time, 15-year-old Tobiahs (pictured) can be found quietly plugging away at his computer, turning out tracks that producers twice his age ought to envy. Indeed, the young Melbourne producer is catching ears far and wide with his edit of Hayden James’ futuristic love song No Time.
Tobiahs’ changes are subtle–a bit of sidechaining here, a little extra reverb there–yet stunningly effective. He flips James’ already moonlit tune into a veritable after-hours pleasure-fest, which is especially impressive considering it’ll be years before the kid is ever even allowed into a club. But he nails the vibe by softening the edges of the original tune’s percussion and arpeggiated synth flourishes, and stretches it out for an extra minute of soulful meandering.
